There are four different interviewing courses for Visual FX courses, each are a slightly different specialism so there could be a variety of portfolio options for you to consider, you can find each Visual FX course in the Visual FX subject area..
All Visual FX specialisms look for a portfolio to be a conversation piece, so be sure to include some of your personality, your interests, and inspirations. Show work that demonstrates your passion, and don't worry too much if you've not got much FX work either, we understand that it's hard to do this properly in colleges, and that there may be different Visual FX focuses depending on the facilities and level of study you have experienced.
We like portfolios from a traditional fine art background, life drawing, sculpting and painting, they are all useful and demonstrate your foundational and creative skills, which gives us a good indication of your interests and what we can recommend to you. Technical drawing or computer-based design work is also a great element to involve in your Visual FX portfolio, demonstrating using your creative ideas with software to manipulate or enhance deliverable outcomes. Essentially, you can show us your passion and work ethic for the thing that you are doing. Try to point your portfolio content at the appropriate course as best you can and be ready to discuss technical processes.
If you have any other enquiries relating to this you can contact the Visual FX Team to discuss, their contact details can be found at the bottom of the specific course page by searching the Visual FX subject area.
Alternatively, chat with our current students who will be able to share this information with you and any other course-related queries.
