What is required in my portfolio for English and Creative Writing?
English and Creative Writing portfolios are not part of the formal admissions process, however, we do need to see what your interests and abilities are, so it is advised that you prepare a portfolio. It should not have an effect on the outcome of your application, though it will be beneficial for Tutors to prepare, advise, and recommend literature to you.
A portfolio is your opportunity to display a range of projects from your studies and/or hobbies related to your chosen discipline. A portfolio may include observational and creative writing, using literary techniques for different tones of voice, storyboards or character plans, annotation, and evidence of exploring the work of other writers, poets, and journalists who inspire you.
If you have any other enquiries relating to this you can contact the English and Creative Writing Team to discuss, their contact details can be found at the bottom of the specific course page by searching the English and Creative Writing subject area.
You can also chat with our staff directly every Wednesday from 2 pm - 4 pm and periodically throughout the working week.
Alternatively, chat with our current students who will be able to share this information with you and any other course-related queries.
Or book onto one of our Open Days or Course Advice Days to find out more and speak with the team.
