Early Years and Childhood Studies

Are there any work placements on Early Years and Childhood Studies courses?

Early Years and Childhood Studies courses have 3 fieldwork placements, one in each year of study, which is an invaluable experience that contributes to your coursework and enhancing your skills for a career in this sector. We do encourage you to gain experience outside of your classes wherever possible and take the opportunity to learn as much as you can in your fieldwork, as this all contributes to your portfolio and transferable skills.

The Early Years and Childhood Studies courses are involved with Early Years and Childhood Studies agencies and companies to maintain and adapt the appropriate learning content and ensure the relevance of your skills. This network supports your fieldwork placements and also your employment opportunities once you graduate.

Guest speakers from the Early Years and Childhood Studies sector are regularly involved in activities, and tutors are happy to recommend other professional activities that will be beneficial to your professional development. Our students often get together for social events and industry events, conferences, activities, and generally to study, or relax. You will gain all the relevant skills required between your on-campus and fieldwork learning to transfer to real-world scenarios once you graduate.

If you have any other enquiries relating to this you can contact the Early Years and Childhood Studies Team to discuss, their contact details can be found at the bottom of the specific course page by searching the Early Years and Childhood Studies subject area.

You can also chat with our staff directly every Wednesday from 2 pm - 4 pm and periodically throughout the working week.

Alternatively, chat with our current students who will be able to share this information with you and any other course-related queries.

Or book onto one of our Open Days or Course Advice Days to find out more and speak with the team.
