FdA and Apprenticeship routes work closely with employers and professionals across the Health and Social Care sectors, both statutory and voluntary. For these routes you will be working closely with your employer who will sponsor your studies, enhancing your career development and opportunities.
For other undergraduate routes there are occasional group trips when deemed relevant and where there are opportunities to enhance your understanding of the Health and Social Care sector, at the Peoples History Museum, for example. Though fieldwork will be most critical to your understanding of contemporary Health and Social Care. There are also a wide range of CPD activities within the health sector that you can get involved with, such as seminars, conferences or mentored activities, which many of our students actively pursue during their studies.
The programme is connected with local and national employers through the School of Health and Social Care Science’s Industrial Advisory Board. This helps to ensure that you have excellent placement opportunities and that the course content is kept up-to-date.
Please note that (FdA) Health and Social Care applications are currently unavailable for international students due to visa restrictions, therefore, these applications can not be considered. Additionally, there are several Health and Social Care routes, some of which require you to be employed by an employer supporting the Higher Education Apprenticeship scheme, and who will sponsor your studies. Other routes, such as Undergraduate BSc and HND are accessible without these conditions, however, still have specific entry requirements and/or UCAS tariff points to gain admission.
For all the details on the specific Health and Social Care courses or if you have any other enquiries relating to this please visit the Health and Social Care subject area, you will also find contact details of the Health and Social Care Team if would like to speak to them directly.
Alternatively, chat with our current students who will be able to share this information with you and any other course-related queries.
