What skills will I learn on Fashion and Textiles courses?

For Textiles courses we teach a variety of skills relating to printed, embroidered, dyed and embellished textiles, digital design, print and embroidery, laser cutting, non-woven textiles, and many aspects of the design process for a variety of outcomes. We teach digital textile design using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign and the textile industry software AVA CAD/CAM. We teach aspects of professional practice including how to prepare a portfolio for an interview.

For Fashion courses, we teach a variety of skills relating to fashion communication, design development for market level and customer, range planning, sustainability in fashion, pattern cutting, and garment construction using both traditional and new techniques as well as digital skills using CAD. You also have access to learn printed, embroidered, digital design, print and embroidery, laser cutting, and many aspects of the design process. We teach digital design using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and use these skills for both design outcomes as well as technical requirements for industry. We teach aspects of professional practice including how to prepare a portfolio for an interview.


We also teach students how to market their work effectively through online portfolios and social media, time management, adaptability, confidence, resilience, interview skills and much more.
