What is a Games foundation course for and what should I expect?

Games foundation programmes are one-year long and will help prepare you for study at HE4, which is year one of a degree course. You will learn academic skills for study, as well as creative skills which will be core in the transition to your chosen degree.

Our Games foundation courses offer an introductory study into games, the emphasis is on creativity but specialising in the route that you want to follow. Key topics include simple game production, using industry recognised platforms and technologies. The focus of the foundation course is on practical work, and our dedicated Games Team will work to help you develop the skills required to bridge the gap between further and higher education, preparing you to move onto the degree course.

If you have any other enquiries relating to this you can contact the Games Team to discuss, their contact details can be found at the bottom of the specific course page by searching the Games subject area.

You can also chat with our staff directly every Wednesday from 2 pm - 4 pm and periodically throughout the working week.

Alternatively, chat with our current students who will be able to share this information with you and any other course-related queries.

Or book onto one of our Open Days or Course Advice Days to find out more and speak with the team.
