Mechanical Engineering

Are there any work placements on Mechanical Engineering courses?

Mechanical Engineering courses do not have a work placement, though we do encourage you to gain experience outside of your classes wherever possible, providing it does not interfere with your studies. You will gain all the relevant skills required on-campus to transfer to real-world scenarios once you graduate, as well as a variety of transferable skills within and beyond the Mechanical Engineering sector. The rest of your time you will be studying in taught classes or independently.

Mechanical Engineering courses are involved with Mechanical Engineering agencies and companies to maintain and adapt the appropriate learning content and ensure the relevance of your skills. We integrate live briefs and competitions, site visits, group projects, and situations with real-world scenarios into your studies to ensure you are prepared for employment within the sector. Guest visitors from the industry are regularly involved in activities, and tutors are happy to recommend other professional activities that will be beneficial to your professional development.

If you have any other enquiries relating to this you can contact the Mechanical Engineering Team to discuss, their contact details can be found at the bottom of the specific course page by searching the Mechanical Engineering subject area.

You can also chat with our staff directly every Wednesday from 2 pm - 4 pm and periodically throughout the working week.

Alternatively, chat with our current students who will be able to share this information with you and any other course-related queries.

Or book onto one of our Open Days or Course Advice Days to find out more and speak with the team.
